I like this ident. I think that channel 4 have very creative and good idents, however they are very similar just made out of different objects/buildings. They have idents made out of the Blackpool Tower, Council Estate, American Diner, Hay Bales and many more. They are very well made but it would be impossible for us to make something like the Rocks as we can't carve it out of rocks or have the technology to do this digitally.

Balloons
Today, We went out into to town to see roughly how much this ident is going to cost for us to produce. We went to a number of birthday/card shops and looked at a number of 2 Balloons. We went in shops like Birthdats, Clinton Cards, Card Factory, Write a Card and many more. We found out that there isn't much difference in prices in each of these shops as they are priced between £6.99 and £7.99. This means we don't really have to go to a specific shop. We want a specific colour so we have crossed out a number of shops to go to as they don't have the colour we want. We would like to get a blue balloon.
I have also been looking online at balloon prices to see if they are any cheaper on line. The image below is a screen grab of a balloon price I have found online. This shows that online prices are cheaper than buying it upfront in a shop. The only down side to buying this online, is we can't predict when it will arrive buy so it is a little unreliable. Also it says the measurements in the description so we would have to compare it to one in the shop so that we are certain it is the right size.
Below is a screen grab of internet prices for the Number 2 Balloons. Some of the prices shown below have delivery prices and some of are free and this varies the prices of the balloons. However, majority of the prices shown are cheaper than shop prices.
We have decided to buy the balloon from a shop in town as £6.99 divided by 3 isn't that much for all of us to pay. It also allows us to buy the balloon on the day we want/need it. Also if we buy it from the shop they will blow it up there and then for us where as if its off the internet we would have to find away to blow it up. Buying it from the shop is more convent and easier for us.

History of BBC Idents
BBC television idents began in the early 1950s, when BBC first showed there logo between adverts/breaks to identify the service and make the channel well known. As new technology has become available, these devices have evolved from simple still black and white images to the sophisticated full colour short films seen today.
This was the first ident to be shown on BBC. You can see the difference in the changes of the adverts as technology has changed.

The first ident, "Television Symbol", or the "Bat's Wings" (1953–1960)
The circle idents were introduced on October 7, 2006

What we are going to use to film our ident..
To record our ident we will be using a flip camera. A flip camera is a small video camera but digitally records film in High Definition. It is a really easy equipment to use as you just press the big red record button and upload it with the flip out USB connection.
We could also use a Canon 5D to record our video if we would like to. The EOS 5D is compatible with over 60 EF lenses (excl. EF-S) and all EX Series Speedlite flash units. Untethered shooting is available with the optional WFT-E1 Wireless File Transmitter. USB 2.0 Hi-Speed permits fast file uploads, while Video Out allows review on a regular TV. An optional magnesium alloy battery grip extends shooting time and offers comfortable portrait shooting with a vertical shutter release. A Precision Matte focusing screen is interchangeable with Grid and Easy Manual Focus screen options.
We have the choice of what type of recording device we would like to use. However, this is subject to availability as there is only one Canon 5D, we would have to maybe book it in advance to make sure we could use it, if we were 100% sure we wanted to use it. However, the other option is to use the flip camera, which we have a number of, so this wouldn't be a problem to use.

Our Final Idea..
Our final idea my idea to use Number 2 Balloons and set them off. We have decided as a group to make two idents but in different locations. As we are going to produce our first version outside. We are going to use the rugby pitch/field behind the college as our outside location. We are going to shot the video outside on a nice sunny day so we have the bright blue sky in the back ground, if not we will have to video in what ever the weather conditions are like. We are going to tie clear string/wire to the balloons so they are like kites, so we don't lose them.
The other ident will be taken in the studio. This will give us the chance to experiment with the lighting and makes sure its how we want it. It means we have more control over the shoot. We will use the white background in our video so it is easier to edit the video. We have decided to create a number of videos in the studio so when it comes to editting we can put them on top of each other to create a number of 2's in the ident as we don't want to buy loads of balloons as it would cost too much. We will take each video from different lengths so the sizes of the balloons are different. We also will have to make sure that the balloons are in different areas of the area so none of the balloons over lap each other when they are put together.
We are going have to make sure we are prepared for the day we are shooting and make sure we do as many shots until its perfect as the balloons won't last more than a few days so we can't shot on different days. This is important as it means if we don't get it right then we will have to spend unnecessary money on more balloons. This will increase the price of the making of the ident and we want to keep costs to a minimum. We will have to try our bests to complete it all in one day. Unfortunately we aren't going to be able to produce a test shoot as this would cause us to spend more money.

My Groups Ideas
Louisa's Ideas...
My idea is to create a cardboard number 2 but without a front and back but just the sides, my idea is to light draw inside the box by colouring in the box.
Then the end result will somehow that the number 2 is shaded in.
Improving this idea I think instead of making a cardboard silhouette we should just create a big number two by drawing the number instead of using the cardboard. the number two will be a bigger size, and then the middle shall be shaded in.
My second Idea is to make a number 2 from cardboard or soe material and stick loads of leaves on top. of it so it looks like a number two covered with attached leaves.
I would then get loads of other leaves and pile them on top of the number and around it so the number is not seen at all.
I would then get a electronical fan and blow all of the leaves away from the area which leaves us with the number two left and the leaves attached.
Kayley's Ideas...
From looking at the different bbc2 idents on you tube I have got the idea of making a cup in the shape of the number 2 as well as putting the handle onto the side to make it more realistic. The cup would be made out of clear plastic so you can see the colour changing in the cup as we pour the liquid. The idea is to make a tea so when putting in the teabag, milk and hot water you can see it being made through the cup and making a tea will relate to the bbc2 ident as it comes up during a break and thats when you would have time to make a tea.

My Idea
My idea is to make a balloon ident. I have noticed BBC TWO have already created one before but I think we could re-make it and make it better. I have an idea to buy a massive number two balloon from a card/birthday shop and buy smaller versions if they are available to buy and set them off into the sky. I imagine that it would look good being set off in a field with the blue sky in the background. However, as it is winter it will be hard to find a day that it will be nice. Also, I think it would be quite hard to set them off into the sky as if it didn't work out then we wouldn't be able to re-catch the balloons. However, we could attach a clear wiring/string to the balloons so they could go off into the sky but so we could pull them back again.
If this idea to set them off into the sky wouldn't work then my plan B is to film it in the studio and set them off in the studio. As this will be an easier option as there is a limit to how high the balloons with go so this will help us not to lose them. However, this is the second option as they can't fly up that far it won't look as good.
Equipment we will use:
-Flip Camera
-Lighting (if we are doing Plan B)
-1 Big number 2 balloon
-4 Little number 2 balloons
-Clear wire
-Windows Movie Maker/iMovie (to edit the video)

BBC Two ident 2005 - Christmas
This is my favourite ident of them all as I like the sparkly to the advert. It is animated and would be hard to make myself as we don't have the equipment to make it. This is a christmas ident as you can tell as it has a sparkly to it which indicates it i related to christmas. It shows that BBC TWO change their idents to the events in the year.
BBC Two Christmas Ident 2011/2012 Moon/Sun HD
I think this is the creative one out of all the idents I have on my blog. As you wouldn't expect it to finish and be a BBC TWO advert when you first see it. It contains a lot of animation in a very creative way.
BBC2 Car ident 1997-2001
I like this is ident, as I think it is a funny and quirky little advert. I think this advert would re-inforce the BBC TWO brand, as it is creative and I think people will remember it.
Introduction to BBC Two Idents
We have been asked to create and film a BBC Two ident, within a group of 4/5 people. Within the groups we will be given specific roles to help the project run more smoothly. These roles are Camera Person, Lighting, Set Designer, Prop Stylist and Editor. The reason for this project is to extend our visual skills, composition, use of light, colour, lenses and perspective etc. The BBC 2 ident can be shot on location or in the studio.
The assignments aims are:
- To develop understanding of studio/location techniques for moving imagery media productions.
- To develop design methods, techniques and technologies.
- To produce experimental studio/day light lighting techniques.
- To develop skills when filming with a DV digital video camera and tripod.
- To develop skills when editing with video software and audio techniques.
